New Pretoria Support Group

A New Cancer Buddy Support Group will be starting shortly at UNITAS Netcare Hospital Oncology Unit.

We would like to invite all cancer patients and their families to attend this group .

Date: 16 March 2016

Time: 18h00

Venue: Lecture Room 4^th Floor, Netcare UNITAS Hospital

We hope to establish this group to provide support and helpful information to people who have been touched by cancer. This group will aim to provide helpful information to facilitate your own healing journey as we all learn to cope living with cancer.

The goals of this group are

· To create a safe place for cancer patients and their families to meet and share ideas and experiences around their journey with cancer

· We will also have some interesting speakers at each meeting to speak about topics relevant to the audience. Our first meeting will be informal and will be a discussion to find out what the needs of the members are.

· To empower patient and families with knowledge that will assist their coping strategies

· Research has shown that patients attending support groups cope better with their treatment and also experience less stress and trauma due to the cancer experience.

· No person diagnosed with cancer should venture on this journey alone !
