Pompie's Story |

He shared with me that he is trusting God to heal him as he has a dream to reach out to other cancer survivors and also make a difference.

Ons Sunday 23 September the C.vive team visited the Steve Biko Hospital Oncology Ward to “lend a hand” to cancer survivors. I prepared myself to visit a female ward and only had gifts for ladies with me. The first ward I walked into was a men’s ward and instinctively I wanted to turn around. However, I found myself walking to the black man in the corner of the ward. It was like a magnet pulling me towards him. As I was standing beside his bed, introducing myself and Cancer Buddies to him, I could feel the positive energy in the room. He shared with me that he is trusting God to heal him as he has a dream to reach out to other cancer survivors and also make a difference. That morning he prayed to God for confirmation of his healing and his dream. When I walked onto the ward he knew that I was his confirmation! As I was sharing with him one of our other members who had a men’s gift, walked in and we could bless him with that as well. Pompie is now so excited to join as a Cancer Buddy and also participate in the 2013 Cancer.vive Ride. Instead of us blessing him and giving him hope, he blessed us and made us realise that “hope is dreaming of a future, hope is finding a new way!”
